Mont-Bertrand, 14350, Calvados, Nr. Vire.
Things To Do & See
Once you are here the car can always take a well-earned rest, there are a number of fantastic areas to walk & bike ride trails to explore, in particular marvel along the picturesque Gorges of Vire. We have collated a fact file of brochures, books, leaflets and maps to help you get the most from your stay - whatever the season. There is also a selection of board games and puzzles for your use. On winter evenings, why not curl up in front of a real log burner with a good book. There is UK (Freesat) TV & Multi - Region DVD Player, if you wish to bring your own DVD's.

Electricity

This will already be on for you, in the event of an emergency the main distribution board & isolator is located just to the right overhead, as you come in the main door.

Remember the voltage in France is lower approx. 220-230 volts, compared to 240v in the UK and the supply is generally much less, so it is not uncommon to have to turn off some larger appliances, when boiling the kettle for instance !!

All appliance supplied are fitted with continental plugs, so an adapter will be needed to plug in any of your own electrical items.

Should the power suddenly go off and the Gite fuse remains on, it may be necessary to reset the larger fuse breaker in the main house.

Heating

The cottage is heated during low & mid season bookings by a single log burner in the lounge & portable plug in electric/petrole heaters. Being of Granite construction it is lovely and cool in high summer !!

Rubbish

Recycling is a way of life in France, the traditional black sack found in the UK is generally empty by the end of the week once items of rubbish are meticulously sorted into coloured sacks. Unfortunately the bin men do go through the rubbish and can fine householders who fail to follow the simple rules !!

Garden

The Gite has an exclusive area of garden fenced off to the rear, with a Traditional French Charcoal BBQ and garden furniture included. The rest of the property is our garden, it is gated and safe for you and your family to enjoy, roam freely but please supervise children.

The grounds consist of fully matured shrubs, flowers, fruit & sweet chestnut trees, with tireless views of undulating countryside.

For the younger visitors there is a 14ft junior trampoline, with safety netting surround, climbing frame & a set of swings, not to mention our two ponies (Peter Pan & Tinkerbell), two pet pigmy goats (Tom & Jerry), guinea pig and chickens.

For the older children there is a Giant Jenga Set, Dart Board, Small Pool Table & Boulé (Petanque) Set.

We have a resident barn owl, bats and can regularly see birds of prey soaring overhead.
